Southampton & the New Forest

A gentle place where big feelings are always welcome.

I'm Suzette, a child and adolescent psychotherapist. I work with children, young people and families across Southampton and the New Forest, at a pace that feels right for them.

Not sure if therapy is the right step? A first conversation is a good place to start.

Space to be heard

Somewhere children and young people can share what is on their mind, in their own words and their own time.

Families included

Parents and carers are part of the picture. We think together about what helps at home, not just in the therapy room.

Joined up with school

When it is helpful, I work alongside schools so the adults around a young person are pulling in the same direction.

What I offer

Three ways we can work together

Every family arrives with a different story, so support is shaped around what you actually need.

Individual therapy

Regular one to one sessions for a child or young person, using talking, play and creative materials to make sense of how they are feeling.

Family sessions

Time for parents, carers and children to talk together, untangle what keeps going wrong, and find kinder ways of getting through to each other.

School consultations

Thinking space for teachers and pastoral teams who are supporting a pupil, so school feels like a steadier place to be.

What to expect

Nothing scary, we promise

Starting therapy can feel like a big unknown, for grown ups as well as young people. Here is how it usually goes.

  1. 01

    You get in touch

Send a message using the form below with a few lines about what is worrying you. There is no obligation to book anything.

  2. 02

    We have a first chat

An initial conversation with parents or carers about what has been happening, and whether I am the right person to help.

  3. 03

    Getting to know each other

A gentle first meeting. No one has to talk about anything before they are ready, and playing or drawing counts just as much as words.

  4. 04

    Sessions that suit you

A regular time each week, with reviews along the way so we can talk openly about how things are going.

Is it private?

What a child or young person shares in their sessions is treated with care and kept confidential. The exception is anything that suggests someone might not be safe, and I will always be clear with families about that from the very start.

Watercolour painting of a calm therapy room with a sage green armchair, an oatmeal armchair, a low table with pencils and paper, a basket of toys and a sunlit window
Hello there

A warm room, and plenty of time

I'm Suzette, a child and adolescent psychotherapist working across Southampton and the New Forest. My work is about slowing things down: making room for the feelings that are hard to put into words, and helping the adults around a young person understand them better.

Some children want to talk. Others would rather draw, build, or play their way into it. Both are absolutely fine.
